Peddlar’s licence unchanged since 1891

Apart from the making of my stock, bloging to get traffic to the website, doing stalls in clubs & fairs, generally doing all the things I need to do to make a kinda living from recycling vinyl the way I do, It is a must to try every way possible to promote.
After a friend suggested it, I called the police yesterday re: applying for a peddlar’s licence. It only costs £12.25 a year & is use able UK wide. I’m sure it will be worth the £12.25 outlay to get myself a licence. What I did not realise is how funny this unchanged since 1871 licence reads. I could not find all the policewoman read to me yesterday in a happy & giggly fashion..but there was a bit in it somewhere about nettles & here is a small section that I could find. Getting one of these very soon & glad to get in there before the law changes as this licence is on the list of things needing amendment for keeping laws up to date.

“any hawker, pedlar, petty chapman, tinker, caster of metals, mender of chairs, or other person
who, without any horse, or other beast of bearing or drawing burden, travels and trades on foot
and goes from town to town or to other men’s house, carrying or selling or exposing for sale
any goods, wares, merchandise immediately to be delivered, or selling or offering his skill in
handicraft.”

Cutting in the sunshine

I have grazed knuckles today from sitting in the rare sunshine today making more rings & brooches for up coming stalls. The more I do this, the more I see that is usable in records. This week I have made for the first time brooches, necklaces & rings in the black & silver HMV label & black & silver Columbia.

I think I will be making cuff links of these 2 types in a week or so when new bases arrive.
